Temperature Warning- Lake Havasu State Park
It was only 150 miles from Joshua Tree to Lake Havasu State Park. About 10 miles shy of our destination, the dreaded high temperature gauge started flashing. We pulled over to let Reba cool and checked the coolant which was in normal range. We had no cell reception so crept up the road a mile until the magic bars returned. We sat for an hour and then drove to an RV repair place who ran some diagnostics and confirmed the sensor must be faulty. We drove on to the park; a great bargain for $35 per night on the water with full hookups. We donned our suits and went for a swim in the lake soon after arrival.
We checked the coolant again and it was low so I Lyfted to the store to buy some to top us off. As we started our 226 mile drive to Grand Canyon, Gorm noted that Reba was chirping and lunging slightly at about 35 mph when accelerating. We called a shop in Kingman, AZ that works on Rialtas, the owner said she would squeeze us in but wouldn't give a time. We dropped Reba at 11 a.m. and wondered down the street to the Route 66 Museum.
My favorite part of the museum was learning about Bearde's camels 🐫 once used by the military to move through dry terrain. The program lost focus but at one time there were camels roaming Arizona. The basement of the museum housed the history of electric cars which traced back much further than I knew to 1888.
From there we wandered over to the Mojave Museum of History and Arts. Some interesting exhibits, my favorite detailed
the successful entrepreneur and miner Cordelia Kay, known as the "lady miner from Mineral Park."
We called the shop at 1; they still hadn't even looked so we called our mobile mechanic in Seattle who recommended checking the transmission fluid. We grabbed thai for lunch then walked back to the mechanic hoping for an update. They checked and topped off our transmission fluid and we decided to drive on to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It was clear, even if something was fixable, they weren't getting to it that week.
We stopped for gas 109 miles in and checked the transmission fluid and added half a quart...definitely a transmission leak. We marshalled on to the Grand Canyon arriving in time to see the glorious tail end of the sunset.
Our next few days in the Grand Canyon were magical. Pics and videos in the next post.

And in line with our RV troubles, the song Tension was quite fitting.https://open.spotify.com/album/2bATrViyEsYKGwHrtpZErf?si=WKFU6zg9QYCdTQuOMXpy_g
