California Dreaming
After an amazing hometown Phish run in Seattle, we hopped into Reba, our 1995 Rialta. The odometer was at 48,000 when we hit the road for an overnight at our friend's Juan and Kat's house in Portland to see the first Phish show there since 1999. We had one day free to make it to the Tuesday show in San Francisco 635 miles away.
The Wednesday show in San Francisco was my favorite of the run. A real burner. We did wait in line for 3 hours to claim great seats so that may have helped.
Mt. Shasta greeted us as we crossed into California.
We overnighted at Beehive Dispersed Camping with our friend Seth about 8 hours into the drive...Reba takes time to make it over the passes. A gorgeous spot on a lake, especially considering the free price tag.
In the morning, we drove another 4 hours to San Francisco RV Resort. It was essentially a parking lot a 20 minute Lyft from the city, but the waterfront view from our window would be hard to beat.
We grabbed a delicious vegetarian lunch Wednesday with our friend Billy and the harbor seals came out to greet us.
Thursday morning we hopped into Reba for the 385 mile drive to our friend's Seana and Dave's place for the three day L.A. run starting Friday. We hit the first 1000 mile mark for the trip.
Mainly farmland on the drive although there were some nice vistas.
That's it for the natural beauty portion of the trip so far. Next up, Joshua Tree.
ViKing's musical selection for the journey so far: David Bowie, Live in Santa Monica 1972 https://open.spotify.com/album/2RgLZn9d5JPBTC4dinpLio?si=mF53885bRwKC2vBPoQ-keQ
